In Memoriam
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce that Father Thomas Weise, friend of the Newman Center, entered into his eternal rest in the Lord last night, December 6, 2015.
Father Thomas, or FT as he was known to his many friends, was a priest in the Diocese of Juneau, Alaska and a dear friend of the Campus Minister. His counsel and wisdom were frequent references in conversation around these parts, and we referenced his online homilies in this blog post from August. (You can still access them, by the way!) We had been looking forward to welcoming him to the Newman Center soon for a two week residence, Centering Prayer workshop, and special Mass.
FT suffered a set of massive and unexpected heart attacks the day before Thanksgiving and had been unconscious ever since. This is a sudden tragedy that leaves so many brokenhearted at his loss, but also joyful to know that he is dancing in Heaven with his beloved Jesus.
